Phillip J. Windham, 78, entered into rest Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was born in Dale County, Alabama to the late Otis and Mattie Bell Windham and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. He was a member of East Burke Baptist Church and worked for the Local 1756 Painters Union. Phillip was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Windham, Sr.; two brothers, Malcolm Windham and Lunnie Windham; and three sisters, Margaret Chancey, Virginia Turner, and Mildred McClendon.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Windham; a daughter, Wanda Windham of Canton, GA; two grandsons, Kevin Windham and Tommy Windham, Jr. (Krystal) both of Sardis; a granddaughter, Lauren Whitten of Canton, GA; six great grandchildren, Faith, Gracie, Lacie, Paisley, Jace, and Bryson; two sisters; Sandy Rathjen (Rick) of Naples, FL and Bobbie Nell Miller of Cartersville, GA; two brothers, Earl Windham (Jeanette) of Phoenix City, AL and Billy Windham (Josephine) of Dale County, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, March 8 at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, March 9 at Sardis Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Ernest Johnson officiating.
