Waynesboro, GA- Winnie Ivester Rogers passed away on October 27th, 2012 in Waynesboro just two days shy of her 98th birthday. Born in Greensboro, GA, she was the daughter of Ruth and P.L. Ivester and lived most of her life in Waynesboro. She was married to Quinton Rogers until his death in 1983 and bore three children-Joan Rogers Collins, Jack Ivester Rogers, and Jerry Leo Rogers. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday school class. Winnie was predeceased by her husband, two sons, and her sister, Doris Cochran.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Collins; daughter-in-law, Thelma Rogers; grandchildren, Chris Collins (Elizabeth), Connie Wills (Frank), Kay Wilson (Brad), and Terri Lariscy (Larry); eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The graveside service will be held on Monday, October 29 at 2:00pm at Burke Memorial Gardens. The visitation will follow at the graveside. Pallbearers will be her great grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 853 North Liberty Street, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
