Waynesboro - Mr. Willie Herman "Bill" Kearson, Jr., 68, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday November 15, 2018 at the V.A. Medical Center in Augusta, GA.
He was born on December 6, 1949 in Waycross, GA. to the late Willie Herman Kearson, Sr. and Roselle Moore Kearson. Bill moved to Homerville, GA. with his family in 1959 and resided there until 2009 when he moved to Waynesboro, GA. to be near his daughter. He attended Southwestern Technical College where he earned a degree as a machinist. Bill retired from Brockway Container Company after 20 years of service. Following that retirement he opened his own business, Kearson Machine Shop, in Homerville, and after selling his business in 2001 he worked for Huey Welding in Millwood, GA. Bill was a member of Green's Cut United Methodist Church and a Shriner. He had a big heart and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather Hickman (Lawton) of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Will Hickman and Annie Hickman, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Ann Harris (Charles) of Valdosta; three nieces, Lauren Lott, Maryanne Lott, Eleanor Lott; and a nephew Chad Harris.
The family will receive visitors Saturday evening, November 17, from 5-7 pm at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home, 220 East 6th Street in Waynesboro. The funeral service will be held at Green's Cut United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 18, at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Jerry Sharpe officiating.Burial will be at Pine Forest Cemetery, Homerville, Ga., on Monday, November 19, at 1:00 pm.
Active Pall Bearers will be Lawton Hickman, Larry Cox, Ken Huff, Roger Rutland, Evans Martin, Scrap Gresham. Honorary pall bearers will be the members of the Green's Cut Methodist Men Fisherman's Club.
