William Bryan Jones, Jr., 77, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Keysville Nursing Home. He was born on January 4, 1944, in Augusta, to the late William B. Jones, Sr. and Ethel Lowther Jones. Bill was a retired Navy veteran, and he also did some studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Bill was a very active member of the Augusta Shrine Club. He was a road runner, putting in much of his time on the road, transporting sick children to Shriners hospitals. He spent a majority of his time participating in activities to enrich the lives and assist with the care of children with illnesses. Bill was also a member of the South Augusta Exchange Club, a Mason in the Waynesboro and Hephzibah Masonic Lodges, a child advocate for the Burke County Juvenile Court System, and a very active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Waynesboro.
Bill had an extreme love for his special great niece and nephew, Kirsten Fiocco and Austin Cato. He loved and was dearly loved by his grandchildren. Bill had a strong love of his Lord, and his love shined even brighter when he was around children. His legacy will always be this special love that meant so much to those children that he cared for and loved.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, George Wilson "Buddy" Jones; and three sisters, Betty Dixon, Willie Mae Steele, and Elizabeth Jones Myers.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy Baxley Riggs of Waynesboro; daughter, Stephanie Jones of FL; sisters, Katherine Jones Cato of Hephzibah, Mildred Jones Evans of Midway, GA; special nephew, who was like the Son he never had, Andrew "Andy" Cato (Wendy) of Hephzibah; and several other nieces and nephews.
