William Gene Jenkins, Sr.

William Gene Jenkins, Sr., 79, entered into rest Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and American Legion Post 120. Gene retired from Southern Auto after 20 plus years of service. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sadie and Mallory Jenkins; his wife, Jewel Tinley Jenkins; and three brothers, Jimmy Jenkins, Johnny Jenkins and Edward Coursey.

He is survived by three children, Gene Jenkins (Kelli) of Waynesboro, Paige DuMars (David) of Lincolnton, and Chad Jenkins (Cammy) of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Ashlee Gagliardi, Corey Anderson, Allyson Wade, Tinley Hendricks, Will Jenkins III, and Gatlin Jenkins; six great grandchildren, Lucas and Gwen Woynaroski, Rowen and Evertte Anderson, and Walker and Adler Wade; his twin brother, Jerry Jenkins (Linda) of Waynesboro; his sister, Cathy McAffee (Duane) of Waynesboro; his lifelong friend, Greg Coursey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm Friday, August 2 in the funeral home chapel with Bill Lively and Rev. Keith Cox officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Burke Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Steve Jenkins, Brad Jenkins, Kip Jenkins, Brett Baxley, Ethan Sanborn, and Noah Sanborn.

Remembrances may be made to the EBA Athletic Department or the Waynesboro Country Club.
