William Henry Gay

William Henry Gay, 72, entered into rest Saturday, February 5, 2022. He was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County and was of the Baptist faith. He was a hard worker and strong willed. William liked helping people, enjoyed fishing and working on cars and became known as the “Best Mechanic in Waynesboro”. He loved his children, and great grandchildren, calling them often and loved his dogs, Sadie and Little Man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and Gus Gay; two sisters, Marsha Gay and Joyce Wilson; a brother, Roger Gay, and two grandsons, Kevin Cook and Jacobie Lane. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynda Gay; three daughters, Lynda Llamas of Waynesboro, Cynthia Gay of Augusta, and Angelia Roswell (Jim) of Hephzibah; a son, William Henry Gay, Jr. (LeeAnn) of Waynesboro; a sister, Brenda Banks of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
