William "Bill" Cleek

Hephzibah, GA - Mr. William J. "Bill" Cleek, 77, beloved husband of Edith Blanks Cleek, entered into rest Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Eisenhower Medical Center.Mr. Cleek was born February 27, 1931 in Coffee County, TN to the late Floyd D. Cleek and Jodie C. Taylor Cleek.Mr. Cleek retired after serving in the United States Army for 20 years.He then went to work for Civil Service where he retired after 18 years of service.Mr. Cleek attended Hephzibah Baptist Church.He was a HAM Radio Operator, call sign : N4UZQ, and a member of the Amateur Radio Club of Augusta, and also a member of MARS.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at DeLoach Funeral Home, Hephzibah.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2008, at the Chapel of DeLoach Funeral Home, Hephzibah.Interment Services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Amateur Radio Club of Augusta.Full military honors will be observed.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Christene C. Peek (John) of Martinez, and Cathlene C. Carpenter of Hephzibah; four grandchildren, William L. Peek, Amanda M. Peek, Stevie C. Carpenter, and Heather N. Carpenter; a sister, Lula B. Brown of Lewes, DE; two brothers, Edward L. Cleek (Gladys) of Birmingham, AL and Thomas F. Bennett (Fran) of Wartrace, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
