William "Bill" Meredith May, Jr.
November 2, 1946 — October 27, 2020
He was born in Beckley, West Virginia on November 2, 1946, to the late William Meredith and Mary H. May. In addition to his parents, Bill, as he was commonly known, was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Reeves May; and his second wife, Carolyn Sue May.
In his younger years, Bill raised and trained Bird Dogs, enjoyed golf and fishing. Later in life, he developed a love of building and flying remote controlled airplanes and rockets. All through his life, he was an avid
gardener, who was known for his tomato and pepper growing skills. He built many garden bed frames and seed-starting stations. Bill also loved woodworking and anything electrical.
He is survived by two children, Marianne May and Willis May (Jodi) both of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Adaleigh Ann May and Riley Wils
May; five siblings, Brenda Tompkins of Lewes, DE, Dean May (Sherry) of Waynesboro, PA, April May of Glen Burnie, MD, Beverley Bosley (Rick) of Gambrills, MD, Janis Markopoulos (George) of Milford, DE; two nieces, Lauren Taylor and Traci Williams; and three nephews, Christopher Tompkins, Eric Bosley, and Ryan Bosley.
Bill was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the local American Legion #120.
The Honorary Pallbearers are Bud North, James Eastmead, John Jackson, Sr., Doctor Bruce Gradous, Danny Meeks and BJ Robertson.
In death, as life, Bill did it his way.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
