Mr. William (Bill) Devoty Hammett, Sr., 78, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 1st, 2021. He was born in Augusta, GA on April 6, 1942, to the late Devoty Lewis Hammett and Hattie Lou Huffman Hammett. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, where he attended the Spares and Pairs Sunday School class. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps as Corporal on June 9th, 1968. He was also a master electrician and plumber and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 1579 for over 59 years. In the mid 1970's, he started C&H Plumbing which grew to what is now known as C&H Services and he enjoyed working up until the last days of his life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lillian North Hammett.
He is survived by his five sons, Randy Hammett, Rudy Hammett, Ashley Hammett, Kevin Hammett, and William (Little Bill) Hammett and their families.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
