Waynesboro, GA- Virginia Blount Glisson, 84, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at University Hospital after a short illness. She was born on October 16, 1929 in Vidalia to the late William Perry Blount and Mary Lou Williams Blount. She worked at Blount Fish Market, which was a family owned business, for many years; and later, she ran the Burke County Middle School Lunch Program until retirement. Virginia was a longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro and was a member of the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. Glisson, Sr.
She is survived by 4 children, Rudy Glisson of Waynesboro, Jan Eubanks of Valdosta, Ginny Glisson Brooks of Madison, and Lawson Glisson of Waynesboro; 4 grandchildren, Heather, Joel, Billy, and R.J.; 2 great-granddaughters, Mary Alison Eubanks and Stella Virginia Thompson; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday, May1at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 11am Friday, May 2 at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. Dr. G. Al Wright, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be R.J. Brooks, Joel Eubanks, Billy Glisson, Spencer Thompson, Ricky Nichols, Bill Nichols, Greg Bunn, Chip Barefield, Lawton Tinley, Roland Daniel, Stuart Nicholson, and Greg Coursey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Fales and the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class.
