Virginia Aubrey Bargeron

August 5, 1942 — April 7, 2021

Virginia Aubrey Bargeron, 78, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021. Born August 5, 1942, in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Everett A. Bargeron and the late Virginia Bargeron Fulford.

Known as "Ginny" to many, she was a graduate of Waynesboro High School. Ginny received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from UGA, where she was a Phi Mu. She also later received Master's and Specialist's degrees in library science.

Ginny was a librarian in the Richmond County Public Schools for 28 years. She worked part-time as a librarian at Fort Gordon for 10 of those years. Ginny loved to read and had a genuine thirst for knowledge and learning new things. She loved to travel in her younger years. A woman of strong conviction, she enjoyed conversing with others about the Bible and her faith in God. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for many years and was actively involved in the ministries and church services at her residence, Augusta Gardens. Ginny never met a stranger and made all who met her feel special with her infectious personality. Full of life and laughter, she was always interested in others. She was a treasure to all who knew her, especially to her nieces and nephews, who adored her.

Survivors include her sister, Patricia Lastinger of San Antonio, TX; brother-in-law, Thomas Y. Harris of Crawford, GA; two nieces, Paige Colquitt (Steve) of Watkinsville, GA and Suzanne Mingledorff (Fred) of Midway, GA; three nephews, Ty Harris of Newnan, GA, Steve Harris (Jessica) of Athens, GA and John Lastinger (Zoila) of San Antonio, TX; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her cherished sister, Peggy Harris.

A special thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff at University Hospital of Augusta for their love and dedication in caring for Ginny. Another special thank you to the staff and residents of Augusta Gardens Assisted Living Facility for their continuous love, devotion, and care for Ginny during her stay there.
