Valerie Ann Crawford

June 13, 1968 — August 10, 2022

Valerie Ann Crawford, 54, loving daughter, sister, and aunt, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Val grew up in Waynesboro, GA, in First Baptist Church, and was a 1986 graduate of Edmund Burke Academy.

After studying Interior Design at The University of Georgia where she was involved in the Baptist Student Union, singing and touring with the ensemble, Message Unlimited, and the inspirational trio, Legacy, she received a BA in Communications with a minor in Public Relations from Georgia State University.

Valerie spent several years working in Sales and Interior Design in Hilton Head, SC and Franklin, TN, and then returned home to Waynesboro, GA. In 2001 she opened Valerie Crawford Interiors & Gifts, worked as a Marketing Manager at STL Authentic Publishing and finally as AVP/Market Leader at Capital City Bank.  While in Waynesboro, she was very involved in the community, holding multiple leadership positions in The Rotary Club (President 2013-2014), Waynesboro-Burke County Concert Series Board (2000-2005), and the Town and Country Woman’s Club, as well as being involved at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.

Upon moving to Augusta in 2016, Val became a licensed Insurance Agent before returning to Banking with Security Federal Bank and Queensborough National Bank.  She was an active member of Warren Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a leader in a Single’s Bible Study.

Val’s many gifts, particularly in music and interior design, will be fondly remembered by all.  Valerie leaves behind a wealth of friends who held her dearly in their hearts, as dearly as she loved them. Her gracious, kind spirit, sweet smile, and love and praise of Our Lord will be terribly missed by everyone she touched.

Her family was the true love of her life. Val was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Martha Crawford, and by her brother, Steve Crawford, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Sonja Crawford Kunzendorf (Eric); nieces, Claudia Crawford and Ginny Lane Crawford; nephews, Crawford Kunzendorf, William (Liam) Kunzendorf and William (Will) Crawford as well as her extended family, including many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home in Waynesboro, GA, followed by interment at Burke Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro where her cremains will be placed with her parents, Martha (2014), Steve, Sr. (2021), and her brother, Steve, Jr. (2021).
