Hephzibah, GA.- Tommy Jefferson Allen, Sr., 66, departed this life on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA. A native of Sardis, GA, he was born May 21, 1943 to the late James Dana Allen and Mildred Murray Allen. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1961 to 1964. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Tommy was a contract salesman for multiple furniture stores in the southeast until his retirement in 1998. For many years he was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Janet Green Allen, children, Tommy Jefferson Allen Jr. (Angela), Dana Ashleigh Allen, Carmen Gayle Allen, Caleb Powers Allen, and Heather Green, his brothers, James "Jimmy" Lloyd Allen, Sr. (Peggy), and Terry Dana Allen (Dayle), grandchildren, Zachary Tobias Allen, and Stephen Lucas Cain, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Monday, December 14th, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, December 15th at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Allen Family Cemetery (Allen Rd.). The Rev. Wayne Dixon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike Midlo, Bob Greene, Chris Murray, Greg Coursey, Victor Johnson, Troy Allen, Charles Avery, Jimmy Miller, Matthew Allen, and Danny Story. The family and pallbearers are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 am.
