Sylvania-Thomas E. "Tommy" Ansley 56, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his residence. Tommy was born in Augusta and was a lifelong resident of Sardis. He was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and was a former Deacon and member of Corinth Christian Church. He graduated from SGA High School in 1979 and received a BS in Physics from Presbyterian College in 1983. He was a former Construction Engineer at Plant Vogtle for over 20 years and was recently retired from the Savannah River Site, working as a Scientific Computing Group manager with the Savannah River National Lab. Tommy was an avid outdoorsman who loved especially turkey and hog hunting. He also enjoyed fishing, wood working and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ida Bell Ansley.
Surviving are his wife Lori Bohannon Ansley of Sylvania; his children, Jordan Ansley and Chandler Ansley of Girard; his step-children, Kaitlyn Skinner and Jason Skinner and wife Sidney both of Sylvania; his sisters, Donna Ansley Wheatley and husband Dwayne of Martinez; Pat Cline and husband Mike of Milledgeville; Stephanie Cope and husband Don of Sardis; Rebecca Cook and husband Beau of Waynesboro; his brother Ed Ansley of Trenton S.C.; his parents Robert and Shirley Bell of Sardis; his grandchildren, Skylar Skinner, Drake Oliver and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active Pallbearers will be Todd Campbell, Juan Hill, Mike Lovett, Joe Thompson, Les Jenkins and John Hamilton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Savannah River National Computer Lab.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Nick Bates and Reverend Matt Shyrock officiating. Burial will follow in the Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
