Thomas A. Alley, age 67, entered into rest April 19, 2014, with his loving family surrounding him.
He was born in Augusta but raised in Hephzibah on October 20, 1946 to Thomas Samuel and Betty Turner Alley. He was a lifelong member of Hephzibah Baptist Church, a State Trooper for the State of North Carolina, a truck driver for the Kimberly-Clark Co., a Hephzibah Policemen and was a former City Council Commissioner for Hephzibah. He was a life member and former board member of Peace Officers Association of Georgia. He retired as a Sergeant from the Richmond County Sheriff's Department. He worked for many years for the former DeLoach Funeral Home in Hephzibah and was a member of the F. & A. M. Masonic Lodge #412 in Hephzibah. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley (nee Renew) Alley; 2 sons, Gordon (Mandi) Alley of Hephzibah and J.R. (Beth) Alley of Vidette; his mother, Betty Turner Alley of Hephzibah; 6 grandchildren; 1 sister, Fay (Ricky) Hayes of Hephzibah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday 6 pm to 8 pm at Hephzibah Funeral Home, formerly DeLoach Funeral Home, 2546 HWY 88, Hephzibah, 30815, 706.592.5000.
A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Danny McGill officiating. Burial to follow in Hephzibah Vance Cemetery with Mason Rites accorded. Pallbearers will be Joseph Hayes, Gene Turner, Donnie Casteen, Brian Griffin, Wes Stallings, and Dee Oellerich.
