Steve Runkle passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2016, at the age of 68. He leaves his best friend of 21 years, married 17, Cheryl Hight Runkle, his children Randy Runkle (Becky), Ryan Runkle (Faith), and Lisa Dojan (Doug); seven grandchildren, Carli, Maci, Brody, Payton, Avery, Brianna, and Taylor.
Steve was born February 5, 1948, in Piqua, Ohio to Richard and Opal Runkle. One brother Richard Glenn Runkle of Oregon.
Steve lived and worked in Springfield, Ohio most of his life. He retired in 2008 after a long career in the Mortgage Banking Industry, moved to Sardis, GA in 2010 to get Cheryl back home from Ohio. He was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and an active volunteer for the Community Food Bank. He enjoyed helping others. Steve was a kind and generous man. His infectious personality will be missed and he never met a stranger. One of his favorite past times was watching The Cleveland Browns, an avid fan he was! Steve will be greatly missed. A sincere thank you to Trinity Hospice Care and our loving family and friends near and far.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, at the Sardis Baptist Church with Pastor Nick Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will Randy Runkle, Ryan Runkle, Doug Dojan, Tommy Cannon, Rusty Holland, and Dennis Rubin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Judson Wynne, Mike Chandler, Preston Conner, Johnny Wynne, Roy Chandler, and Randy Chandler.
