Waynesboro, GA – Shirley Rogers, 82, entered into rest Tuesday, April 3, 2018. She was born in North Augusta to the late Florence and Russell Newell and moved to Burke County in 1960.She was very artistic with arts and crafts, especially needlework and painting. During the 1960s and 1970s, she made a lot of wedding cakes. Shirley was a University of Georgia and Burke County master gardener. She retired from Southern Company and was a member of Botsford Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Doyle Ashe and her second husband, William Rogers.
She is survived by two sons, Glen Ashe (Sarah) of Waynesboro and Curt Ashe of Girard; and four grandchildren, Emily Lewis (Luke) of Carlisle, England, Everett Ashe (Ashley) of Waynesboro, Cody Ashe of Minneapolis, MN, and Ethan Ashe (Melinda) of Sardis.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Thursday, April 5 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 11 am Friday, April 6 at Botsford Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Dixon and Rev. Mike Dann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
