Sharon Gail Bennett, 62, entered into rest Sunday, August 28, 2022. She was born in South Boston, VA and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. She was a member of Hope Empowerment Christian Ministries. Sharon was a former employee of the Burke County School System and Samson’s Manufacturing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Joseph Lawson; a daughter, Donicia Lawson; and two brother-in-laws, Vincent and Willie.
She is survived by her husband, Nathanial Jones of Alexander; three children, Felicia Dukes (Reggie) of Waynesboro, Marquell Jones(Lakeyshia) of Waynesboro, and Alyssa Dukes (Gregory) of Waynesboro; four sisters, Loretha Archer of FL, Linda Bennett of Waynesboro, Colister Vance (Robert) of NY, and Avalon Lawson of NY; three brothers, Lloyd Lawson of NY, Perry Lawson (Jessica) of Waynesboro, and Elvis Lawson (Michelle) of Lawrenceville, GA; six grandchildren, Temar Jones, Coi Adams, Trelon Jones, Loghan Jones, Avery Dukes, and Amira Dukes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm Friday, September 2 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 3 at 1:00pm in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Preston officiating. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.
