Sarah Denise Sparks Johnson
December 29, 1956 — March 22, 2016
She was a loving mother and teacher of many. She worked for the Burke County Board of Education for over thirty years teaching at Burke County Middle School and Burke County High School. She was a member of the Waynesboro Church of God, where she taught Sunday school for over twenty years.
She is survived by her three children, Brandon, Lance and Samantha Sparks all of Sardis; her sisters, Deloris Surrency of Screven, GA, Dianne Castor (Bruce) of Brunswick, GA; her twin brother, Dennis Thornton of Alamo GA; and several precious nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, the Reverend W.C. Thornton, Sr. and Sarah Currie Thornton and her brothers W.C. Thornton Jr. and Gary Thornton.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, March 25, 2016, at the funeral home. Memorial Services will be held 11am Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Waynesboro Church of God. Reverends George Glenn and Matt Wigley will officiate. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
