Waynesboro-Mrs. Sara Hendrix Westbrook, 78, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Doctors Hospital. Mrs. Westbrook was born in Metter and was longtime resident Waynesboro. She was a longtime member of the Piney Gove Baptist Church and owned and operated a beauty shop from her home for many years. Mrs. Westbrook was a kind and generous lady right up until her death and after her death by donating her eyes to the Georgia Eye Bank in hopes of helping others.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Mr. Russell R. Hendrix and her husband, Mr. C.L. Westbrook.
Surviving are her daughters, Cheryl Hendrix McCary and husband David of Waynesboro and Lisa Hendrix Mathis and husband Aubrey of Waynesboro; her sisters, Christine Renninger of Brunswick, Ga., Dot Collins, Nita Gay, and Ouida Sutton all of Savannah; her grandchildren, Benjamin Ellison (Kristin) of Waynesboro, Andrew McCary (Kristina) of Midville, and Kallie Palmer (Jonathan) of Decatur; step-grandchildren, Aubrey T. Mathis of Hephzibah, Todd H. Mathis of Hartwell, Ga, and Jason R. Mathis of Colorado; three great grandchildren, West Ellison, Brinley
Ellison and Hank McCary.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Marc Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Active Pallbearers will be Ben Ellison, Drew McCary, Scott Wren, Bob Mallard, Robert Parrish and Marion Westbrook.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathan Palmer, John Adams, and Keith McFeely.
