Augusta, GA - Samuel Gregory "Greg" Jenkins, 65, owner of Jenkins Tractor Company on Mike Padgett Highway, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at his home.
He was born on May 12, 1946 in Augusta, GA.He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School Class of 1965 and attended ABAC.He served in the National Guard from 1966-1972.After working for J & B Tractor, he moved to Augusta and opened Jenkins Ford Tractor in 1973.
He is survived by his long-time companion and wife, Elora Lefler Jenkins; two children, Ashlea Jenkins Crout (Kyle) of Charleston, SC and Samuel McCord Jenkins of Augusta; two grandchildren, William Bennett Crout and Caroline McCord Crout, both of Charleston; parents, Sammy and Nell Jenkins of Waynesboro; three siblings, Stan Jenkins (Ginger), Art Jenkins (Gay), and Susan Reynolds (Tommy), all of Waynesboro; many nieces and nephews; and God-daughter, Melissa Juchatz of Greensboro, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, at the funeral home.Friends may call at the home of Sammy and Nell Jenkins (694 B Chappell Road, Waynesboro, GA).
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, at the funeral home with Rev. Sam Vernon officiating.Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.Pallbearers will be Chris Mann, Jack Lefler, Dr. Lee Lefler, Vincent Lefler, Matthew Jenkins, and Travis Jenkins.Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Johnson, Don Woodward, and employees of Jenkins Tractor Company.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
