Ruth Holland Glisson Sheppard, 88, entered into rest Thursday, October 18, 2018. She was born in Girard to the late Ella Mae Miller and Joseph Marvin Holland, Sr. She worked at Sardis Manufacturing Company for many years. She was a member of Paine's Chapel United Methodist Church in Jenkins County and Bethel Brick Church. Ruth was a piano player and singer for many churches throughout the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. She also played for the Singing Saints of St. John Towers in Augusta. She was a good cook and a homemaker. Ruth enjoyed talking about the good old days, loved her family, loved serving the Lord, and had an amazing memory right up to her passing. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Louis Glisson, Sr.; her second husband, Rev. Harold H. Sheppard; a son, Lynn C. Glisson; and eight siblings.
She is survived by two children, Henry L. Glisson, Jr. of Swainsboro and Patricia G. Neely of Augusta; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Saturday, October 20 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Sunday, October 21 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Oliver and Rev. Mira Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth Christian Church Cemetery in Girard. Pallbearers will be Chris Glisson, Garett Glisson, Ben Hall, Tyler Hall, Bryson Hall, Nathan Neely, and Justin Neely. Honorary Pallbearers will be her nephews.
