Rufus "Gene" Hall, Jr., 90, entered into rest Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was born on August 5, 1928 to the late Rufus Eugene and Winnie Newton Hall. Gene served in the US Navy. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of Millen Baptist Church and the Boch Sunday School Class. He served as a Jenkins County Commissioner, a member of the Lions Club, a Mason, and a Shriner. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved his bird dogs.
Gene was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Jean Waters Hall; two sons, Joe Hall and Rickie Blackburn; and a son-in-law, Tom Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie Blackburn Hall of Waynesboro; children, Mike Hall (Myra), Kay Fleming (Johnny), Ann Hamilton all of Millen, Steve Blackburn (Jan), and Jeanie Blackburn both of Waynesboro; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 29 at Millen City Cemetery with Rev. Steve Sirmons officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Millen Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
