Roy Dean Babb (nickname: Badfrog), a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, at the age of 63. His vibrant and adventurous spirit and love for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Cortney Babb and his grandson, Malachi Thomas. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Tessa Pennington Myers and Rosemary Pennington Nalley; his close friend of 30 years, Barbara Hagerman; his stepfather, Dean Babb; and his stepsister, Renee Babb Scholtes. Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Berneice (Penny) Babb; and his wife, Tracie Grammar.
A proud veteran of the US Navy, Roy served diligently on the Kennedy Ship, a testament to his dedication and service. After his naval career, Roy’s passions led him to embrace the joys of life in many ways. He found solace in fishing, reveled in the beauty of nature, and cherished the time spent walking trails and visiting the mountains. His love for playing pool was unmatched, a skill he honed with remarkable precision and joy. Roy was also a devoted caretaker to his beloved dog, Nicki, who was a constant companion and source of comfort.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Roy’s life at his funeral service, which will be held at 2 PM on September 21, 2024, at Rose Dhu Cemetery in Vidette.
Roy Dean Babb will be remembered for his warmth, quirky sense of humor, his zest for life, and his enduring love for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and an enduring impact on the hearts of his family and friends.
