Waynesboro- Mrs. Rose Vickery Williams, 86, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Affectionately known by all as Mrs. Rose, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Mrs. Rose was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. She was a very active member of Green's Cut United Methodist Church, serving as choir director, member of the Adult Sunday School class and serving in many other various positions over the years. She was awarded a perfect attendance pin from the church and had perfect attendance her entire school years. She was a member of the Sunshine Club, was a devoted Girl Scout, and served the True Citizen as a Country Correspondent for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, LaVern Alexander Williams, Sr.
Surviving are her son, Lavern A. Williams, Jr. and wife Sandy of Johnston S.C.; her daughters, Wanda W. Saxon and husband Douglas of Waynesboro, Susan W. Williams and husband Michael, Sr. of Louisville, and Cyndi W. Foster and husband Lewis of Orange, VA; grandchildren, Allison Clark and husband Tim, Tracy Halasz and husband Michael, Brian Saxon and wife Amber, Jason Saxon and wife Jenny, Katie Cook and husband Wint, Michael Williams Jr. and wife Susie, Joshua Williams and wife Samantha, Megan Williams, Ashley Lanzel and husband Aaron, and Brandon Foster and wife Savannah; great grandchildren, Emily Clark, Bailey Clark, Andrew Halasz, William Halasz, Jadon Saxon, Noah Saxon, Reese Saxon, Colton Saxon, Sadie Saxon, Emmalyn Cook, Jaxon Cook, Mason Williams, Ryan Crapps, Tyler Crapps, Aletheia Lanzel, Titus Foster, and Daisy Ruth Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, June 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
