Rodney Raley

Vidette, GA - Rodney Raley, 72, entered into rest Wednesday, August 31, 2011.Along with his partner, Roger Land, Rodney owned and operated Gough Gin & Fertilizer.He was then associated with the Boll Weevil Eradication Program.In his later years, he was a barber at Johnson Barber Shop in Waynesboro.He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Louise Chalker Raley and John C. Raley, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Louise Hannah Raley; two sons, John David Raley and Floyd Rodney Raley, Jr. (Debralee); four grandchildren; three siblings, Calvin Raley, Dale R. Tinley (Henry), and Jimmy Raley (Betty); sister-in-law, Linda Hannah Hodges (Jerry); and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, at Vidette United Methodist Church.Rev. Griffin Thompson, Rev. David Boggs, and Rev. Tip Carroll will officiate.Interment will follow at Rose Dhu Cemetery.Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Raley's grandchildren, John Bradford Raley, Jonathan Evan Raley, Hannah Marlene Raley, and Chalker Garrison Raley.
