Robert L. Rogers, 77, entered into rest Tuesday, February 14, 2023. He was born on December 21, 1945, in Wrens to the late Agnes and Earl Rogers and has lived in Waynesboro for over 50 years. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, where he held rank of Sergeant and fought in Vietnam War. Robert was a millwright and diesel mechanic and has worked for several different companies throughout the years including: the Burke County Board of Commissioners, Toyota Forklift of Augusta, Kimberly Clark, Louisiana Pacific, Johnny Kat -Cat Liter in Wrens, Barnett and Irving Lumber Company in Bulls Gap, TN, Wrens Diesel, and Burke Truck and Tractor. He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church, where he led a jail ministry teaching Sunday School for 17 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, an infant daughter; a son, Robbie Rogers; a brother, Jimmy Rogers; and a great grandson, Jaxxon Rogers.
He survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane Phillips Rogers; two daughters, DeAnna Faulk (Richard) of Wrens and Amy Hance (Daniel) of Sardis; three sons, Mark Rogers (Cristy), David Rogers (Dana), Richard Rogers (Shelli) all of Waynesboro; daughter-in-law, Denise Rogers of Lyons; 13 grandchildren, Charlie Rogers, Phillip Rogers (Anna), Jonathan Rogers (Hannah), JD Rogers, Austin Rogers, Jacob Rogers, William Rogers, EmmaRogers, Michael Faulk, Robert Faulk, Samuel Faulk, Sara Jane Faulk, and Jennifer Short (Greg); four great grandchildren, Rylee Becton, Audrey Short, Cooper Short, and Mason Rogers; sister; Louise Hadden (Palmer) of Warrenton; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Saturday, February 18 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm Sunday, February 19 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Byron Twigg and Reverends Mike Flowers, David Boggs, and Butch Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shelton Taylor, Marty Amerson, Bob Phillips, Ed James, Jay Glisson, and Michael Murphy.
Remembrances may be made to the Rosemont Vision Fund.
