Waynesboro, GA - Robert Edmond "Unk" passed away November 22, 2017 in his Waynesboro home.
He was born to Robert and Janie Coleman Edmond in Fulton County, GA in 1930. He attended East Rivers, North Fulton, Darlington (Rome, GA), Georgia Tech, University of Alabama, and University of Georgia.He was a chemical engineer with Oxy Chem. Member of Sigma Nu fraternity, Descendants of Mayflower, Sons of the American Revolution, First Families of Georgia, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Military Order of the Stars and Bars, 1st Marine Division, American Legion and Waynesboro Country Club where he loved to play golf, etcetera. He was a member of First Presbyterian of Atlanta then moved to First Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro. In the USMC, he served in Korea 1951-52.
He was married to Isabel Ledyard (deceased) of 59 years and is survived by a beautiful family; Janie (Bard) Diffly of Cumming, GA; Robert (Becky) Edmond of Montgomery, AL; Mary Ann (Joe) Mead of Waynesboro; and Nancy (Earl) Vazquez of Orlando, FL; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his step sisters and brother – Clifford Lewis, Betty Palmer and Preston Lewis.
His family wants to thank Vickey Bates for her open heart and gentle loving care of their father.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 26 at First Presbyterian Church Waynesboro at 2:00pm with visitation immediately following the service in Fellowship Hall.
