Sardis, GA- Robert "Curtis" Clayton entered into rest Sunday, January 17, 2016. He was a native and resident of Burke County. He was a graduate of Burke County High School and a member of Botsford Baptist Church. Curtis was a former employee of Summertime Enterprise in Statesboro. In 2011, he was a recipient of a heart and double lung transplant that was completed at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Monnie Clayton, Sr. and a brother, David Clayton, Sr.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Angela Burke; a son, Lane Clayton; 2 sisters, Brenda Wolfe of Augusta and Kathy Payne of Toledo, OH; 3 brothers, Tommy Clayton (Susan) of Statesboro, Melvin Clayton (Rita) of Waynesboro, and Monnie Clayton, Jr. (Angie) of Waynesboro; sister in law, Gerald Clayton of Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 2pm Wednesday, January 20 at Botsford Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Joshua Clayton, Adam Clayton, David Clayton, Jr., Clay Anderson, J.R. Tucker, Hank Burke, Tom Jones, and Stephen Barnhardt.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
