Richard L. Warren age 94, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 14, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Warren was born and raised in Swansboro and Davisboro, Georgia but had made his home in Milledgeville for many years. Mr. Warren received five bronze battle stars from five battles that included the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was assigned to the 428th Military Police Escort Guard where he guarded and escorted prisoners of war. He landed with assault forces on Omaha Beach toward the end of 1944. Mr. Warren was with the 2nd Infantry Division when the Battle of the Bulge started on Dec. 16, 1944 it ended January 25, 1945. Each September the veterans and their families of the 428th Military Police Escort Guard meet for a reunion. He worked for Central Georgia Gas and Tex Gas retiring in 1986 after more than 36 years. He was preceded in death by his parents James Anderson and Sarah Lewis Warren, a son Richard Anderson "Ricky" Warren and a sister Jean Warren Garrett. And he was a member of the Mosleyville Baptist Church and attended Rosemont Baptist Church in Waynesboro.
Survivors include his wife Ruth Mosley Warren, his daughter Anne Resseau (Bill), Grandchildren, Dr. Amy Warren, Dr. Andy Warren, Emily & Whitney Warren, Emily Fleming, Haley Booker, Keith Resseau, Susan Baker (Leslie), great grandchildren Sarah Anne & Lucas Baker.
The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
