Raymond Thomas “Tommy” Burke, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024. He was born September 4, 1945, in Millen, to Floyd Delacy Burke and Rozzie Lee Owens.
Tommy was the loving husband of Rhonda Kay Burke for 46 years.
He started his sales career as a teenager at Edenfield’s Grocery in Millen, GA, before working for the Coca-Cola Company as a route salesman. After relocating to Waynesboro, he worked for Goldbergs Furniture Company as a route salesman in the Wrens area. After leaving Goldbergs, he was employed and retired from Lance Inc., where he was the south Augusta route salesman. Tommy was a true salesman and enjoyed his many customers throughout his career.
Tommy especially loved cooking for his family, napping with his dog Bella, going to the beach, cutting grass, fishing, tinkering in his tool shed, and watching the birds at his bird feeders. He was a kind, gentle soul who never met a stranger—a true country boy at heart.
Remaining to cherish Tommy’s memory are his wife, Rhonda Burke; his son, Matthew Thomas Burke (Amanda); his daughters, Megan Burke Weathers (Candice), Daphne Mickens, and Tammy Burke; his sister, Debra Smith (Don); his brother, Floyd Burke (Joyce); along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 4:00pm Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial services will be private.
