Randal Percy Dixon, born April 25, 1959, to Percy and Malona Dixon of Girard, GA, entered into rest on March 8, 2024, at the age of 64.
Randy, a native and lifelong resident of Burke County, was first and foremost an honorable steward of the land. The son of one of the most respected farmers in the area, Randy took over the Dixon family farm at the young age of 28. Just as his father had been blessed with his mother’s unwavering support and devotion, Randy began this journey with an amazing woman who would become his dedicated wife and partner and play a significant role in his future success. With Amy by his side, Randy's love of the land and all things agricultural, combined with his extreme determination and innovative spirit, enabled him to develop one of the most impressive farm operations in the Southeast. Randy was a founding member of the Screven Gin Co. in Sylvania and Dixon Peanut Company in Girard. Always striving for perfection and new methods to better his farm, he quickly became a mentor and willingly shared his knowledge with all who asked for his advice. In addition, many agribusinesses and manufacturers in the industry, mainly Amadas and John Deere, sought his help with designing and improving their products. He truly was a passionate innovator whose legacy, ideas, and practices will benefit the ag industry for many years to come.
Randy was a devoted son and a loving husband, daddy, and granddaddy. He was a great provider who sacrificed his blood, sweat, time, and health for the family and farm he loved. His mischievous grin was contagious, and he was a friend to everyone. He was a man of his word who took pride in everything he did, and above all, Randy was humble. He was willing to help anyone in need, and his home and table were always open. Anyone who needed to see him during his busy workday knew to be at his house at 11 to join in the daily family lunch. Randy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Mills Dixon; and sister, Donna Dixon.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Burke Dixon; brothers, Michael Dixon (Pam) and Bobby Dale Oglesby (Sally); children, Steven Dixon, Alan Dixon (Abby), Kelli Dixon Chandler (Josh), Kimberly Dixon, and David Dixon (Lauren); grandchildren, Kaden, Luke, Emma, Jacob, Deacon, Mallory, Dawson, and Alaina.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday, March 13 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Thursday, March 14 at Botsford Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Dann and Bill Lively officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
