Peggy Mallard Chandler passed quietly in her sleep on August 28, 2023 after several years of declining health. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Hurley (Tim); sons Billy Joe Chandler (Lisa), and Robert L. (Lucky) Chandler; grand-children Erin Shepard (Austin), Megan Love (Philip) and Wade Chandler (Mary Ann); six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews as well as Carol Cooper and Dianne Chandler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl S. Mallard and Robert L. Mallard, Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy Fowler and Lillian Hester, three brothers, Joseph G. Mallard, Robert L. Mallard, Jr. and Grady Mallard; her husband Billy E. Chandler and her daughter P. Jan Chandler.
Peggy was born and reared in Sardis and graduated from SGA High School prior to her marriage Billy. They lived in Sardis until 1961 when the family moved to Thomson, GA. Peggy was a devoted wife and dedicated mother who worked tirelessly for her family while serving as a long-time employee of Thomson Company from which she retired. After retirement, she moved to Augusta for several years before moving to Gainesville in 2014. Her focus was always her family and she never missed an opportunity to show her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how much she loved them.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Thursday, August 31 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Sirmons officiating. Burial will be at 1:00pm at St. Marks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers for those who wish to honor Peggy, the American Kidney Fund is suggested as a charity for consideration.
