Okie Haymans, 78, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 under the care of Hospice of Savannah following a heroic journey with cancer.

She was born in 1932 in Evans County to Aulie & Gussie Sikes.At the age of 17 she ventured to Sylvania and Millen, GA for several years where she met her husband John Haymans. They settled in Waynesboro, GA for 46 years where they raised their family.Okie retired from Keller Aluminum Chair Plant after nearly 30 years.

Okie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bill Hunter, two step-daughters, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Noah Haymans, son John Gary Haymans, her parents, and all of her siblings of five brothers, and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be held at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home in Waynesboro, GA Sat. May 1, 2010, 10:00am -11:30am.Funeral Services will follow immediately afterwards at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Linebaugh and Rev. Lawrence Butler officiating.Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest.

Okie loved her family and was known for her care giving ways.She labored hard, enjoyed life, and was ready to see her Heavenly Father.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her wonderful doctor and staff, oncology team at Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Savannah Team, Family, and friends. A special thanks to her sister-in-law Jeanette Haymans.
