Norman Thomas

Norman Thomas, 68, entered into rest Wednesday, December 6, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 28, 1955, to the late E.S. and Edna Avrett Thomas. He was a 1973 graduate of Edmund Burke Academy and was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church. Norman worked for Assurant Insurance Company as an operations manager for many years.

At very early age, God gave Norman the talent to play the piano by ear. This was something he enjoyed very much, bringing smiles to everyone that heard him play. He was the pianist for Vidette Methodist Church and Mt. Moriah Methodist Church. He had a beautiful voice and used that to sing praises to our Lord. He volunteered at Brentwood Nursing Home for a number of years.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Aldridge; four brothers, Leroy Thomas, Clark Thomas, J.E. Thomas, and David Thomas; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Aldridge and Jerry Dickey.

He is survived by his siblings, Melvis McCullough of Waynesboro, Dorothy Dickey (Junior) of Fair Play, SC, Edward Thomas (Sarah) of Waynesboro, and Becky Phillips (Joey) of Waynesboro; sisters in law, Alice Bell Thomas, Kaye Barefield Thomas both of Waynesboro, and Dorothy Thomas of Hephzibah; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00am December 16 at Rosemont Baptist Church with Greg Coursey, Chaplain Jared Fischer, Rev. Mike Flowers, and Rev. Bruce Eaton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rosemont Vision Fund, 522 Hwy 25 North, Waynesboro, GA 30830.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Enhabit Hospice and Brentwood Health and Rehab for their wonderful and loving care during this difficult time.
