Sardis, GA - Nelms Frank Graham, Sr., 85, entered into rest Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the VA Medical Center Downtown Division, Augusta, GA.He was born May 24, 1923 in Coffee County, GA to the late William David Graham and Ruth Marion Blackwelder Graham.He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II.He retired after many years of service as Chief of Utilities Branch from Ft. Stewart, GA.In Hinesville, GA, he was a member of the Lions Club and the First United Methodist Church.Mr. Graham then moved to Sardis, GA, where he was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and the Bonnell-Hickman American Legion Post #180.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Murray Graham, RN; brother, Edwin "Bud" Graham; and two sisters, Clarice Lynch and Eloise Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn F. Graham; six children, Nelms F. Graham, Jr. (Kathy) of Waynesboro, GA, Nicholas M. Graham (Terri) of Hinesville, GA, Hal Farris of Atlanta, GA, Rebecca Graham McAuley, RN, (Jere) of Cumming, GA, Kathi Farris of San Francisco, CA, and Rolene Oliver of Sardis, GA; two sisters, Charlotte Pence (Millard) of Union, WV, and Martha Flythe of Savannah, GA; eight grandchildren, Emily Graham, Nicole Graham, Wesley Graham, Allen Combs, Kiel Combs, Caroline Combs, Taylor Oliver, and Parker Oliver; andmany nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro, GA.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church, Sardis, GA.Rev. Ken Nichols and Rev. Mark Joyner will be officiating.Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Randy Black, Jimmy Allen, Gerald Murray, Terry Allen, Ricky Youmans, and Bobby Jenkins.
