Waynesboro, GA- Myrtle Ellen James Bartlett, 77, went to be with her Father on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 10, 1938, in Richmond County to the late Thomas and Gladys James. For many years, she owned and operated Bartlett Personal Care Home for her veterans which she dearly loved. Myrtle was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Hephzibah. She loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Dewey C. Bartlett; a grandson, Dillon C. Bartlett; two daughters-in-law, Nell Bartlett and Susan Bartlett; a great great granddaughter, Addalyn Grace Hartsell; and several siblings.
She is survived by five children, Thomas Bartlett of Waynesboro, David Bartlett of Waynesboro, Debra DeLaigle (Bobby) of Waynesboro, Joe C. Bartlett of Waynesboro, and Ellen Pauline Bailey (Glen) of Evans; ten grandchildren, Paulette Leonard, Chastity Sparks, Jennifer Chambers (Austen), Shannon Bartlett, Warren Bartlett (Missy), Daniel Bartlett, Mandi Ellen Hannah (Robbie), Teresa DeLaigle, Macy Weis, and Geena Beyersdoerfer (Alexander); twelve great grandchildren, Heather, Rebecca, Owen, Bessie, Mikala, Taylor, Ashten, Reid, Annabelle, Bryson, Claire Ellen, and John; one great great granddaughter, Gracelyn; longtime companion, Jim Rap; long time best friend, Raydean Posey; three sisters, Marion Purkey, Dorothy Thomas (J.E.), and Wanda Shelley; a brother, Fred James; and many nieces and nephews and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, March 29 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, March 30 in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Shane Padgett and Earl Saxon officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Adam Clayton, Paul Bennett, Johnny Weaver, W.G. Bartlett, Steven Wilson, Robert Wilson, Micky Stewart, and Timmy Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Marshall and James "Bud" Ross.
