Montez Godbee Carrington, 87, entered into rest Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was a native of Bryan County and resident of Burke County for the past 65 years. She was a member of Waynesboro Church of God, Golden Charter, and a former member of Bethany Methodist Church in Girard. Montez dedicated 49 years of her life to the Lord and was a very active member of her churches, teaching Sunday School, leading Bible studies, and working with the women’s ministries. She helped lead many souls to the Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Judson Godbee and Keith Carrington; a son, David Godbee; a grandson, Mike “Jerome” Godbee; three brothers, Paul Long, Joe Long and Ronnie Long; and two sisters, Martha Westberry and Faith Moore.
She is survived by two children, Michael Godbee (Mandy) of Girard and Rachel Mobley of Waynesboro; grandchildren, T.J. Godbee, Christopher Godbee, Brad Mobley, Evan Mobley, Brent Mobley; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother, James Ralph Long of Pooler; and several stepchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 19th in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Matt Wigley and Rev. Shiloh Everhart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Bethany Methodist Cemetery in Girard.
Pallbearers will be Brad Mobley, Evan Mobley, Brent Mobley, T.J. Godbee, Chris Godbee, and Tyler Godbee.
Remembrances may be made to the Waynesboro Church of God.
