Sardis, GA- Millard Crawford Parker (affectionately known as "Mickey" by friends and family), 79, entered into rest on Thursday, January 1, 2015. He was a Burke County native and spent most of his life in the area but he also resided in Evans, GA, Pensacola, FL, Sylvania, GA, and Locust Grove, GA. Born on January 13, 1935, he was one of seven children born to the late Millard Matthew Parker and the late Marian Catherine Rackley-Parker. He lived a full life and was a gentle man with a kind heart. He served in the U.S. Air Force and had a twenty-seven year sales career with Goldberg's furniture. He also served as the Deputy Warden for the Screven County Correctional Institute before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy DeLaigle-Parker and one of his older sisters, Sybil Jenkins.
He is survived by five siblings; his sisters Betty Robinson, Willie Alice Mills, Kathryn Graham and brothers Jimmy Parker (Janie Parker), Frankie Parker (Constance Parker) ; three children, Ricky Parker, Pamela Parker and Jody Parker; eight grandchildren, Scott Parker, Kristy-Lynn Parker, Rick Parker, Chris Robinson, Robert Hammond, Amber Hammond-Weeks, Austin Parker, and Jenny Parker. Ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Sirmons of Sardis United Methodist Church will officiate.
