Mildred Saxon Corley, of Burke County, was born August 31, 1919 in Jenkins County, GA. She passed peacefully June 22, 2015 at Burke Medical Center. She was 95 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents Otis S. and Mattie Billings Saxon, and her husband, Robert Corley of Columbia, SC.She is survived by two sisters: Eva S. Streit of Keysville, GA and Marion Holton of Sylvania, GA, along with many nieces and nephews, including Donna Barlow, her niece and caregiver.
Mildred had a rewarding career as a self-employed private duty registered nurse for many years. After retirement, she and her husband ran a bait and tackle shop in Columbia SC. She gained much pleasure from the many dog companions in her life.Before moving to Keysville she was a resident of St. John Towers where she served as an exercise instructor for many years.
Visitation will be held at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home on East 6th St. in Waynesboro, GA at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June27th. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Gale Seibert will officiate.
