Merle Arthur "Art" Doan Jr., 75, entered into rest Friday, September 11, 2020. Art was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved hunting, fishing, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. He served in the United States Air Force for 12 years as an E-5 as well as 2 years in the National Guard. He was an accomplished engineer for Fluor-Daniel. He served as a lay leader at Vidette United Methodist Church. Art was preceded in death by his parents Merle A. Doan Sr. and Elizabeth Netherland Doan.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 40 years, Sybil Doan; Sister, Jane Ellen of Dublin; Children, Merle Doan III of Midville, Velvet Spray of Summertown, Stephanie Riner (Hugh) of Swainsboro, and Shelton Doan (April) of Lucedale, MS.; Grandchildren, Colton O'Brian, Ethan Borden, Chase Petty (Sierra), Kevin Anderson, Renvy Murdock, Atticus Doan, Davis Doan, Phoenix Doan, Bailynn Doan, and Emberleigh Doan; Great grandchildren, Taylor Petty, Oakley Petty, and Braylon Sage, and Kylan Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews, other Family members, and friends.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Monday, September 14, at 11:00 in the chapel of Deloach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Sirmons officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions, in Art's memory, be made to Vidette United Methodist Church.
