Mary Ellen Murphy

Mary Ellen "MA" Murphy, 73, of Waynesboro, GA, passed away peacefully, surrounded in love, by all of her children and most of her grandchildren on May 4th, 2024.

Mary was born on October 18th, 1950, to Roldo and Gertrude Shaw in Cortez, Co.

Mary met the love of her life when she was 14 and they went their separate ways and lived different lives and then reconnected several years later in 1976. They traveled all over making homes and friends in several states, until his passing in 2012. Mary worked as a waitress, and truck driver, but her main job was mother and homemaker and that is where her primary focus was. Mary always had time for a cup of coffee and a conversation, her coffee pot ALWAYS had coffee in it, if you needed it or the conversation. She had a big heart and would give her last dime to help her family if needed. Unselfish to the very end, often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs and well being of her family and friends. She was loved by all those that knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, William Darrell "PAPA" Murphy; parents, Roldo and Gertrude Shaw; 4 brothers; Thomas, Charles, Robert, and Walter Chamblee; one granddaughter, Sarah; and one great-granddaughter, Izzy.

Survived by 3 children, Shawna (Tim) McDaniel of Savannah, GA, Clyde (Leighann) Bingham of Wellington, UT, and Nancy (Todd) Oglesby of Waynesboro, GA; 14 grandchildren, Carrie (Bryan), Theresa (Gary), Ethan (Hannah), Ashlynn (Mike), Sierrah (Brian), Hannah (Tim), Maci (Thomas), Todd Jr., Deserae (Jacob), Josie (Clayton), Paisley (Trevor), Misty (Taylor), Kaitlyn, and Jessie; 20 Great-grandchildren, Brandon, Mallery, Murphy, Tyler, Chloe, Charlotte, William, Esme, Brantley, Hudson, Raya, Drake, Bentley, Mylee, Kenzie, Lilly, Sophie, Marik, Kaylee, and David; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

There will be a small celebration of life service at a later date, to be determined, in St. Charles, VA where she will be laid to rest with her late husband and the love of her life.
