Our beloved mother went to her heavenly home on June 14, 2022. Mary Willie Griffin Harper, 84, went to be with the Lord following a short illness. Born in Screven County, GA on October 16, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Willie Earl and Lillian Maud Davis Griffin.
Mary was a 1955 graduate of Screven County High School, and Draugh’s Business College in Augusta, GA. Having a lifelong passion for gardening, Mary had cultivated over 100 rose bushes at her home; and later started Waynesboro Florist & Gift Shop in 1983, which she owned and operated until her retirement in 2012. A keen entrepreneur, Mary was honored in the National Association of Professional & Executive Women and Women of Excellence. Among her greatest delights were her church and many friends. She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 25 years, and currently served on the Homebound Food Ministry.
The joy of her life was her family and knowing Christ as her personal Savior. Surviving are her three daughters, Debbie Kittrell (Chuck) of Waynesboro, Melanie Clark (predeceased Doug) of Sylvania, and Ashley Harreld (Randy) of Greenville, SC; eight grandchildren, Eric Kittrell (Megan), Katie Redd (Todd), Nathan Kittrell (Mary Katherine), Adrienne Clark, Michelle Clark, Lane Clark, Mary Harreld, and Aston Harreld; and seven great-grandchildren, Grae, Harper, Declan, Annie, Will, Winston, and Vince; her beloved poodle, CoCo; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Predeceased were a son-in-law, Doug Clark; and a grandson, Charlie Kittrell, III. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Mary was also preceded in death by two brothers and her sister, Earl Griffin, Robbie Griffin, and Maudine Bailey.
