Vidette, GA - Mary Bishop Allmond, "Nanny", age 90, died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Jefferson County Hospital, Louisville, GA.Ms. Allmond was born June 18, 1919 in Emanuel County, GA.Ms. Allmond moved to Vidette in 1985 following her retirement from Joyner Sales in Columbia, SC.She was a devoted member of Bethel Associate Reform Presbyterian Church.She enjoyed fishing, quilting, crocheting, visiting with her grandchildren, and was famous for her homemade lemonade.Ms. Allmond is preceded in death by her parents, James and Molly Bishop; daughters and son-in-law, Jean Thomas and Linda & Doran Cartmell; and two great-grandchildren, Geoffery Cartmell and Doran Lee Cartmell, III.
Survivors include her devoted and loving son-in-law, John S. Thomas of Vidette; four grandchildren, Bill Cartmell (Carolyn), Susan Homer (Drew), Lee Cartmell (Bobbi), all of Utah, and John S. "Johnny" Thomas, III (Dominee) of Waynesboro;twelve great-grandchildren, Abby, Ian, & Ashley Cartmell; Justin, Dallin, Jordan & Logan Homer; Montana, Sierrah & Autum Cartmell; and Dylan & Megan Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Bethel A.R.P. Church in Vidette, GA with Rev. J. Roy White officiating.Burial will follow at Rose Dhu Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Carlton Bishop, Bill Cartmell, Lee Cartmell, Drew Homer, Chris Lewis, and Johnny Thomas.Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandsons represented by Dylan Thomas.Ms. Allmond will lie-in-state one hour prior to funeral service at the church.
