Mary Ann Owens Johnson

Mary Ann Owens Johnson, 77, entered into rest Friday, April 7, 2023. She was a native of Wrens and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. She retired from Capital City Bank and was a bookkeeper for JR Johnson Construction Company. She was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church and previously served in the preschool and nursery department at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church for many years. She volunteered with the Exchange Club Fair for over 30 years, loved to sew, monogram, crochet, and to watch her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was preceded in death by her father, V.J. Owens; her mother, Ola Mae Rabun; a sister, Vera Templeton; and a brother, Joey Owens.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Johnson; three children, Jim Johnson (Karla) of Waynesboro, Julie Gandy (Donald) of Waynesboro, Nancy Cox (Joe) of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Jenny Tootle (Brannon), Jay Johnson (Cheyanne), Colby Gandy (Hollis Ann), Connor Gandy, JC Cox, Owen Cox, and Noah Cox; one great granddaughter, Rowan Tootle; four siblings, Tommy Owens (Revonda), Jerry Owens, Joyce Williams, and Darlene Wiliford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, April 11 at Hephzibah Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Wren officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour to the service.

Pallbearers will be Colby Gandy, Connor Gandy, Jay Johnson, Brannon Tootle, JC Cox, Owen Cox, and Noah Cox.
