Martha Lynn Brinson went home to be with the Lord after an extended illness, Thursday, January 29, 2015. Born July 7, 1930, in Millen, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lynwood Brinson and the late Pauline Ethridge Brinson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John Wright Brinson, Jr.; and sister, Dorrace B. Sullivan.
An active member of the First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro, Georgia, Martha also enjoyed many activities including the Waynesboro Garden Club and her Bridge Club. Martha was also past President of the Waynesboro Country Club Ladies' Golf Association.
Martha and John later moved to the Atlanta area where she spent time pursuing her interests in antiques, investments, and politics; however, her favorite times were spent with her two daughters, their husbands and her grandchildren. During the last fifteen years, Martha lived in Habersham County, Georgia, was widowed and later married Frank Mutton. Martha devoted her time as a volunteer for numerous charities and supporting local theater.
Martha is survived by her husband, Frank Mutton, daughters Cheryl "Cherry" B. McDonald (Philip G.), Barbara B. Grizzard (Stephen J.); three grandchildren, Earl Vance Rogers, III. (Brooks), Elizabeth Grizzard Knowles (Ryan), Benjamin Tyler Kingston (Kelly); and her beloved sister-in-law, Mary K. Brinson.
Visitation will be at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 3 from 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Graveside Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery.
