Margaret E Odom

Margaret E. Odom, 69, of Sardis, Georgia passed away on May 21st with her daughters by her side. She fought a long illness with the strong will that defined everything she did in life.

Margaret was born in Waynesboro, Georgia to Charles and Evelyn Elliott on May 30, 1952. She spent all her life in Sardis. She attended S.G.A. where she was an avid softball and basketball player. Throughout her life, she enjoyed rec league softball, reading, dancing, fishing, gardening, quilting, cooking, tending to her cows and chickens, and spending time with her family.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Elliott.

Margaret is survived by her husband, C. Ralph Odom; her daughters, Amy D. Jenkins of Savannah and Andrea R. Ellison (Nathan) of Sardis; grandchildren, R. Lee Riggs of Milledgeville and Payton G. Harn & David O. Harn, III of Savannah; her mother, Evelyn J. Elliott of Sardis; siblings, Rose Chandler Johnson of Martinez, Herbie Elliott of Sardis, and Darlene Elliott (Eric Joerg) of Evans; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24th at Sardis Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Brad Elliott, Ricky Elliott, Les Jenkins, Joseph Jenkins, Ron Lee, and Wilson Odom.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the S.G.A. High School Class of 1970.

Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center CCU staff and Dr. Andrew V. Cichelli.

When asked what she wanted people to wear, Mama responded "blue jeans and bright colors" so we hope to see lots of them.
