Waynesboro-Mr. Mack Franklin "Frank" Hunter, 67, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Hunter was a native and lifelong resident of Waynesboro. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and also served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Hunter was retired from the Burke County Sheriff Department after 35 years of service holding rank as Lieutenant. After his retirement from the Sherriff Department he served as a Bailiff. He was a member of Botsford Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Helen Hunter; his sister, Mary Carolyn Hunter; and his brother, Jerry Deal Hunter.
Surviving are his brother, Jack Hunter of Waynesboro; his uncles, Norman Andrews of Beech Island, SC, Warren Andrews of TN, Billy Gill and Newton Gill both of FL; his aunt, Betty Black of Augusta; his nephews, Christopher Hunter of Evans and Patrick Hunter of Grovetown; and two great nephews, Christopher Jr. and Austin Hunter both of Evans.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Chapel with Chaplain Dennis Dickey officiating.
Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
Active Pallbearers will be Greg Coursey, Larry Lewis, Gene Boseman, Wilbert Williams, Larry Mack, and Jimmy Golden.
Honorary Pallbearers will Burke County Law Enforcement.
