Lovett E. Mead

Waynesboro, GA - Lovett E. Mead, 75, entered into rest Thursday, October 22, 2009, at his home.He was born in Girard on September 8, 1934 to the late John Gordon Mead and Martha Etta Lovett Mead.He was a life-long resident of Burke County, having farmed for over 20 years.He later started a trucking business.Mr. Mead was the first owner of a diesel truck in Burke County and was a teacher to many.He attended Botsford Baptist Church.Mr. Mead was preceded in death by a daughter in 1971, Sharon Mead; a grandson in 1989, Jason Riggs; a great niece in 2007, Alexis Pope Joy; two brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Annie Roy Mead; two sons, Gene Mead (Pam) of Waynesboro, Joe Mead (Mary Ann) of Waynesboro; two daughters, Susan Riggs of Appling, Christy Tussey (George) of Hephzibah; brother, Gordon Mead (Virginia) of Waynesboro; four sisters, Mary Forehand (Ray) of Hiltonia, Minnie Jenkins of North Augusta, SC, Martha Daniel of Waynesboro, Jackie Robbins (Douglas) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Botsford Baptist Church.Rev. Wayne Dixon will be officiating.Interment will follow at the church cemetery.Pallbearers will be Steve O'Pry, Bill Tanner, Howell Roberts, Jason Flakes, Greg Quick, and Neil Quick.Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Glisson, David Dishmond, Sammy Jenkins, Richard Pickens, Russell Flakes, Avner DeLaigle, Raymond Edenfield, Lynwood Heath, Bobby DeLaigle, and Chad Flake.

Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to the Botsford Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 825 Botsford Church Road, Waynesboro, GA30830.
