Waynesboro, GA- Mrs. Louise Plat Womack, age 90, entered into rest Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at her home. She was born in Columbia, SC on January 13, 1927, to the late Alan and Virginia Plat. She graduated from University High School in Columbia, SC. In 1943, after passing the civil service exam, Louise went to work at Fort Jackson. She married M.M. "Red" Womack, Jr. on June 8, 1946. She lived in Waynesboro most of her life and was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church, where she attended the Ruth Sunday School Class and the Saints Alive Group. In addition to her parents and her husband, Louise was preceded in death by three brothers, Alan Plat, Thomas Plat, and Charles Plat; an infant sister; and a half brother, Frederick Plat.
She is survived by three children, Elaine Daniel (Thomas) of Waynesboro, Malcolm Womack (Leigh Ann) of Lawton, OK, and David Womack (Nancy) of Bellville, GA; six grandchildren, Brian Daniel (Lauren) of Roswell, GA, Marty Daniel (Jaime) of Pace, FL, Heather Womack of Augusta, GA, Elizabeth Johnson (Bill) of Lawton, OK, Daniel Womack of Atlanta, GA, and Allison Womack of Athens, GA; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Peggy Skinner of Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm - 3:30pm Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:30pm in the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wes Lawson officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Daniel, Marty Daniel, Daniel Womack, Logan Daniel, Glenn Womack, and Sterling Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances may be made to the Vision Fund at Rosemont Baptist Church.
